A conversation with Paul Krugman
We talk about data-driven journalism, polling, 2024, Trump and (of course) tariffs
Dear readers,
I recorded a podcast with Paul Krugman, the Nobel Prize winner and former New York Times columnist who is now killing it on Substack, this past Monday, April 7. We had fun talking about Trump, tariffs, data journalism in general, and a bit about my personal story and approach to political analysis.
Here’s a fun picture of us smiling (/coping as the market imploded):
Things have changed a bit since we recorded (the stock market is no longer in free-fall, for example) but I think it’s still an informative and fun watch/listen. The video version of the podcast as well as the transcript is published over on Paul’s Substack:
Let me know what you think in the comments.
Enjoy your weekend,
Elliott
Elliot, this interview with Krugman was excellent and was particularly educational for me!
Elliott, I just read the transcript. This was just after reading the transcript of his interview with the economist Claudia Sahm. I liked your interview better, if only because I was overloaded with bad economic news last week and needed to mentally rebalance with bad political news. :-) I'm perennially in search of empirically grounded views on the last 3 Presidential elections. You guys scratched that itch a bit. Re your thoughts on the mid-terms - "From your mouth to God's ears"!
