Biden’s approvals are high and steady, despite “trouble” at the border, a push for DC statehood, and media outcry over potential SCOTUS expansion

Happy Sunday!

This week, several polls came out showing Biden with a steady and high approval rating. The average stands at 54% approve to 40% disapprove — roughly where it has been for the past month, plus-or-minus a point.

This stability flies in the face of two theories that have been circulating among political journalists. First, that the attention being paid to a bounce in border-crossings from Central America would reveal Biden to be a weak and ineffectual leader. And second, that Biden passing policies that are popular with 65-75% of voters would increase his ratings.

Overall, it looks like we’re in roughly the same political environment we were in last November. Maybe a little friendlier to Democrats.

This week’s newsletter is done and will be sent out in a few hours. It’s on how we can use the polls to try to adjust for democratic deficits in our grossly pro-rural electoral institutions.
