Dear readers,
I’ve been writing here ~3-4x a week since FiveThirtyEight was shut down in March. I’m thrilled that your support has made Strength In Numbers a sustainable job for me, but that is a lot of analysis, writing, editing, promotion etc. to do — and today I just need a break from the screen. I’m going to spend the morning working in my garden (carrots pictured below), which mostly means weeding, and then recuperate indoors (NPR tells me the heat index will be 105° here today).
On Sunday, you’ll get the usual newsletter from me, this time covering Gallup’s new poll and some other notable numbers (Pew also had a big survey out this week). Next week’s schedule is to publish the Q&A on Tuesday and some new data on Friday. And in case you missed it, our new July Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll came out on Tuesday and has lots of charts and goodies.
Thanks for your support and have a nice weekend.
Your humble newsletter writer/weed picker (not that kind of weed),
Elliott
Some of the best ideas surface when tending to one’s garden.
You deserve the break. It appears your reputation has grown as I see your work quoted on other substacks. I also garden and it's very meditative.
