Logic would also tell us that Trump has the wrong priorities. But he lacks the basic intelligence for that and is corrupt to a point where logic couldn’t penetrate even if had any sense about him.

Actually I'd like the DNC to talk about rule of law, fixing SCOTUS, foreign affairs (actually staying out of foreign affairs and NOT starting new conflicts, immigration (actually addressing the issues and how to deal without just deporting everyone with an accent) and the economy (tax the rich, ACA and labor protections) instead of "look how bad this guy is". That's all they ever run on since 2016.

Wake up. Trump does not care. He intends to be president for life, by fair means or foul. Trump's heart & arteries are our best hope, but I'll go with any organ.

Numbers matter! Thanks for the data!

I really like the map. I also like the ability to zoom in on counties within the state. That is important information as we move into the 2026 elections. The tendency in Indiana rural counties is to nationalize the local races for mayor, city council, county council, commissioners, and townships. That conveniently hides the fact that the MAGA wing does nothing in improving the daily lives of its citizens.

That may be true. That’s what the poll questions I recommended would tease out. Although, the question of deportation would benefit from further specifics on the type of illegal immigrant.

.......dump has only one priority - himself

It's amazing to see the one issue Trump was the strongest on (immigration) is now an anchor helping drag down his numbers.

That "reasons for disapproval" table is one of the most encouraging things I've read recently. The other concerns could all be subsumed under "Temperament/Personal Behavior," which does seem to be driving this administration. The email heading, "Americans say Trump has the wrong priorities," is so tame, so innocuous. It could be said of anyone one merely disagrees with. It doesn't begin to convey that Trump and the feckless Republican Party are dragging the country over a steep cliff.

God I’m old. Clicked through with glee only to learn PUMA did not stand for “the party can go where the sun don’t shine.”

Oh man, PUMAs...

"Only 9% of Americans in a new Quinnipiac University poll out this week favor taking Greenland by military force."

True, unless it actually happens and that number will instantly be 40% or more as MAGA and Republicans fall in line.

They like violence, it's that simple. They're just like Trump in that regard.

A government with what, 12 cabinet heads, hundreds of experts employed and people think they sit on their butts while one guy does everything. What is wrong with you myopic cyclops?

Agador's avatar

The fact that only 58% of Americans believe that this past year has been a total cluster is our main problem…

My (related) take is that about 1/3 of the body politic is beyond hope.

Sko Hayes's avatar

I agree with you. Some people think 37% is Trump's floor, I think it can go lower if he keeps this BS about Greenland going on. Even Republicans hate it.

I'd add that most of the U.S. population is clueless about how "the economy" works, what causes inflation, etc., so when voters tell pollsters they voted for Trump because of inflation, the economy, etc., I'm pretty sure they're trying to cover up the fact that they're racist and misogynist AF. When they get laid off, can't get health care, etc., they'll blame Biden, the Democrats, Black people, gay people, uppity women, immigrants, whoever, anyone but their own deluded selves.

Plus, they put themselves into a right wing media bubble, so they're kind of surprised when reality hits them in the wallet.

How often is the interactive map updated? Does it already show the results of your most recent polling? It's really terrific. Thank you.

First of all let me say, I strongly disapprove of pretty much everything Trump does. Nevertheless, I disagree with your conclusions regarding the public’s shift regarding immigration. Your poll question as listed asks about “Immigration/Deportation/ICE”. Well, given the daily behavior of ICE, the only surprise is that any of the public approves of it..The response says nothing about the actual public feeling regarding immigration or deportation. A more honest poll question would be, “do you believe Trump is doing a good job securing our borders?” And, “should immigrants who entered the country illegally be deported.” I think the sentiment expressed would be quite different, than you concluded. Especially the one regarding border controls.

Sko Hayes's avatar

The thing is, the opposition against ICE is drawing in people who THOUGHT they wanted every undocumented person to be deported, but seeing it in the real world is a whole other story.

The fact that ICE is deporting people by arresting them in court doing everything LEGALLY (which every Republican told us that was the ONLY way to come in), or deporting US citizens, or people with no criminal record, or separating children (again), deporting children without their parents, etc is giving people a very bad taste in their mouth and changing their minds on things like immigration.

The interactive tools, especially the map, are awesome. Thank you for this!
