Elliott, is there any geographic distribution factor to the disengaged group? I know friends who are Democrats in deep red Ohio and they often say they won't vote because why bother.
Why can’t Democrats find a collective voice? At this point I wish they’d present themselves less like politicians or salesmen. I wish the party could find a way to unite right now, under a central message of affordability AND ACCOUNTABILITY!
To most of the Democrats I know, Accountability IS as important as affordability. Ossoff, Talarico, AOC, and Mamdani have mastered their messaging. Yet we have so many talented Dems with too many different messaging strategies.
Flipping is hard, getting voters to decide to vote is easier (even if a flip is worth two votes and an additional voter to the polls is one vote). But getting someone to decide to vote and get to the polls is likely a question of boots on the ground not a particular policy position or a bunch of TV ads. The "influencers" of those low propensity voters are the key. Are they highly engaged family/neighbors/colleagues? Are they actual door knockers? Are they social media? I don't think money is key to moving the influencers, it will be challenging to estimate turnout and how those late deciders will break. Hopefully No Kings will march to the polls and bring a crowd.
I do hope that maybe low-turnout voters and indecisive Democrats will pay attention to the mass destruction of our democracy, which in turn translates to overt, smug corruption from the Trump family and cronies (because they've undermined the rule of law), which in turn translates to higher prices for the vast majority of Americans, fewer opportunities, increased likelihood of broligarchs in charge, and AI still looming over the fate of billions.
Accountability is important for our politicians, and also for voters.
We must participate in order to create better futures for all of us.

We do not need anti-trump Rs to vote D - if they merely stay home, there would be a D tsunami if D voters and leaners turn out.
