Elliott and David get together in person at the America Votes Summit for a special look at new polling on the midterms and the Democratic Party's favorability problem
As an Australian who is obsessed with US politics, I can’t help wondering whether part of the sense of Democrat unhappiness re no leadership and no clear messaging comes from the fact that in the US the party out of power does not have a ‘leader of the opposition’ nor an ‘opposition cabinet’ as Australia, UK and Canada do. I look on in despair at the Dems as they are rudderless and internally competitive.
Is there any data that tracks dissatisfaction with parties across other political systems such as ours?
I mean, they didn't even try to prosecute and convict an insurrectionist who encouraged a mob to invade the Capitol. No excuses are acceptable. The burden of proof was satisfied - I watched the damn insurrection on TV! That’s pathetic weakness.
Furthermore, they always bend to their donors. During Obama, with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and a majority in the house, they didn't even ATTEMPT to make a public healthcare option. Why is it illegal for people to apply to Medicare just because they're not 65? Doesn't that seem whack? Joe Lieberman was in the pocket of the insurance companies. And he felt like their demands were worth more than the needs of the American people. So they tanked the public option. And Obama was lukewarm on it at best.
I want change from grifters and genocidal men, but Democrats are in the minority. They have no plays. We should be furious, both parties and independents; we will enact programs and investigations when the MAGAt Congress changes from red to blue.
This live show was great! Thank you.

I have been a conservative republican since I was old enough to vote, but the republican party has been destroying our democratic republic.
Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.
There isn't much of a choice.
What a shock that Democrats would no longer be perceived as extreme when the opposite party only exacerbates their problems.

Team D are grifters and genociders as well, just Trump says the quiet parts out loud.
