I would like to see a poll that breaks out immigrant status, e.g. requesting asylum, overstaid visa, have temporary approval to be here (From Pew Research), to see which of these subsets voters consider "criminals" who should be deported. Many people seem supportive of the concept of deporting "criminals" without explaining or understanding which immigrant status they consider "criminal" and how many immigrants there are in each bucket. This is what I think people disagree on. Immigrant status should be part of the discussion to arrive at a policy accepted by voters.
Oh, HELL NO! Don't "give" them body cameras, don't give them guns, clothes or shoes! The only entity that should have authority in any state is that state's law enforcement, unless the Governor calls in his State Guard.
Another thing, any officer, fake or not, should be required to use minimal force, not shoot in the face first and ask questions later. If an officer is going to stop a vehicle, use a spike strip first, eliminating the danger to the public and the vehicle's occupants, and preventing rogue officers from claiming self defense when committing murder.
As a card carrying member of the DHS gang, I will follow Mark Kelly, not pete hegseth.
Just the low-hanging fruit: Don't lead with "Get the fuck out of the car," lead with, "For everyone's safety, we'll need you to exit the vehicle." When the ICE agents sound like they were raised watching "Bad Boys" reruns, it doesn't telegraph professionalism, or inspire confidence in their professional judgment.
Idk, here in WI the vast majority of the citizenry wants Medicaid expansion, more screening on gun sales, and legalized marijuana, and has supported these positions for over a decade. WIGOP adamantly opposes all of them, yet they still win elections, and it's not all due to gerrymandering.
G.E.M.— You ARE a gem. This post is a clear CALL TO ACTION. Each of us needs to contact members of congress ASAP to tell them how we (& the supermajority of Americans) feel. Not a penny more to DHS unless these reforms are enacted.
Republicans only concession to Democrats’ ICE demands is to mandate body cameras, but that’s only because they know that is a pretty toothless request. Even normal police departments sometimes struggle with the cameras. There have been plenty of situations where police “forgot” to turn on the cameras or they “malfunctioned”. Does anyone think ICE would record problematic situations? Or if something was recorded, it would ever be see the light of day?
It's amazing that Republicans are calling following the law negotiation non-starters.

"So, for example, the bar labeled “Admin targeting all undocumented” at +28" - not seeing this bar.
And the Republicans in Congress say most of the things that American's want are non-starters. Not sure what planet they are living on.
Love how they say it's overreach but ICE isn't overreaching?
Willful ignorance.

This is a very timely, important analysis. Thank you!

Reality ballot disconnect.
The solution to the body-cam obstacle: agents can’t report for active duty until they have one.
GOP motto is we don't need to follow laws.
Under trump, a picture is worth.....10 words.

One of the most important videos of Renee Good's murder was from the shooter, Jonathon Ross. FBI-- Nothing To See Here
They won’t even bother to find them and claim “it takes years to get cameras for this many agents”.
Given how much money the DHS was given in that ugly bill this summer, they can afford to buy the cameras.
